This marks the point where Mai looses her duel against Raphael in DOMA, and, as her life points drop to zero, she realizes how badly she messed up: She let herself be deceived into something that went way over her head, destroyed her best friend who tried to help up until the very end, and now she will disappear, all alone and without having accomplished anything.
